Vocational education and training for Europe's young people

With the support of the Hans-Böckler, Konrad Adenauer and Vodaphone foundations, the Cologne Institute for Economic research (IW Cologne) has analysed the potential of vocational education and training for Europe’s young people.

The country analysis of the present study shows that the vocational education and training landscape in Europe is very heterogeneous and must be so. This is because no one single ideal education and training model exists. At the same time, it is clear that all countries have identified innovative approaches for strengthening vocational education and training in specific areas. The aim of the study is therefore to identify successful approaches and in this way to show that countries can learn from one another and can organise approaches together. VET Terminology - German English

The link below takes you to a collection of terminology for VET specialists which has been published by the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB). This publication is the result of many years of work by the BIBB Language Service in cooperation with BIBB experts.
Terminology which is particularly important and specific to the area of vocational education and training is intended as an aid to vocational education and training experts when understanding and translating specialist text from the area of vocational education and training. The terminology collection is also intended to contribute to the harmonization of terms used to create better understanding at national and European level. In this sense, the purpose of the terminology collection is to contribute to straightforward, quick and reliable communication at international level.
