The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is promoting three strategic projects from social partners in the fields of employment market policy and business under the auspices of bilateral cooperation in vocational education and training. The projects thereby contribute their respective perspectives and procedures and stand for a reinforcement and implementation of apprenticeships in the partner countries. Apart from the trade union-oriented Unions4VET project, these are the SCIVET and VETnet strategic projects. The projects communicate regularly and work together at a level of social partnership.
Vocational education and training know-how from German skilled crafts is in high international demand. Interested parties from abroad can find fitting offers from the range of services offered by the German skilled crafts organisation via the SCIVET coordination office. Actors from German skilled crafts assist the instruments developed in SCIVET to analyse the requirement situation faced by foreign partners, to plan development steps together with them and to determine and actually provide the services required.
SCIVET is a joint project of the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts and the Central Office for Further Training in Craft Skills.
As a project of the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), VETnet aims to implement elements of the dual education system in different countries. VETnet is active at the AHK locations in China, Greece, India, Italy, Latvia, Portugal, Russia, Slovakia, Thailand, the USA and Mexico. The prerequisites for pilot dual education system courses are created, including courses for trainers and examiners. It is increasingly not only German companies abroad that participate, but also local enterprises are taking up dual system offers; that particularly applies to trade-technical professions. Diverse image campaigns on the social networks attract the attention of young people in the partner countries.
